Our “Money and the Nervous System” workshop is two hours, but the idea behind it is simple enough to sit with here first.
It’s Not a Budgeting Class
Nobody in this workshop learns to build a spreadsheet. What we actually work on is the automatic reaction — tight chest, racing thoughts, sudden defensiveness — that shows up before any rational thinking about money even starts. That reaction is a nervous system response, not a character flaw, and it doesn’t go away because you finally understand compound interest.
Where Scarcity Thinking Actually Comes From
Most of the scarcity thinking people bring into the room didn’t start with their current bank balance. It started years earlier — a parent who fought about money, a period of real instability, a moment of public embarrassment tied to not having enough. The belief-release exercises we use in the workshop aren’t about positive thinking. They’re about separating an old, protective reaction from a present-day decision.
The Journaling Piece
Part of the session is honest money journaling — not tracking expenses, but writing down what you actually feel the moment you think about a bill, a raise, or a purchase. Most people are surprised by what comes out. It’s rarely about the number.
If You Want the Live Version
This workshop runs live, in a small group, with a workbook sent ahead of time. Every session includes a $100 credit toward your first retreat, and members of Yanssima Circle attend free. You can see upcoming dates on the workshops page.
